How to appear offline on Steam 1. Launch Steam and click on "Friends" at the top of the window if you're on PC , or in the menu bar at the top of the screen if you're using a Mac . Steam just rolled out another useless update that reset all my preferences and for some reason seemed to delete a bunch of settings.
