Roku Tv Apps Not Playing Sound. When on the home screen of my Roku TLC smart tv, the sound/audio works (you can hear the click noise while scrolling the apps) as soon as I choose a app (Hulu, Netflix, etc,) the sound/audio no longer works. I have tried reconnecting my speakers and that does not seem to be the issue. Why won't my Roku play sound? The Roku has power and displays video, but there is no audio.. Make sure the volume level is not set to zero (0) or mute. Using the remote, press the volume up button to increase the volume level of the TV or press the Mute button to unmute the TV. Verify if issue is affecting all channels or apps. Check if the issue occurs to more than one (1) streaming channel or app. WOW, it took twice, but the HDMI switch-a-rooni worked…. Roku TV worked for 16 months without the “no sound” problem, then BAM. Had sound about 5hrs and then, nothing. Not a dang sound coming from the TV. Other two TVs in the house were fine, but not the Roku. Thanks so much !

Though not ideal, once trick that seems to work is to start playing that second episode (or any episode showing video unavailable) on an Apple device (like your iPhone/iPad) using the Apple TV app, let it play for 30 seconds and then pause it and then try to play it from your Roku.
