-plex app is more stable, the one on the shield seems to crash a lot when you have a large library. For getting a shield:-My apple tv transcodes a lot of my 4k content and the shield just seems to play anything i throw at it.-the shield is not locked down like apple devices, you can sideload a lot of apps (apk) So to close I still use plex as my server and to house all my content but I am using infuse on Apple TV 4k to play everything and plex does update the library when you watch through infuse. According to that thread it also is affecting infuse and they have a fix for it. INFUSE update 6.3.5 which includes a fix for playback issues with HEVC (h.265) videos has been submitted to Apple and should be available within the next few days.
