As of this writing, the app launcher is only available for windows on the chrome dev channel, but google plans to push it to chrome for mac os x and linux soon. Google chrome is a fast, easy to use, and secure web browser.

Of course, as with many things the company does, the app launcher was quickly set aside so that only a handful of people now take advantage of it. Clicking it gets me a miniature version of the apps pages that are normally shown as part of the chrome new tab page. The chrome app launcher has undergone a number of icon changes over the years but this search icon is the first to deviate significantly. Google recently replaced the black bar with an app launcher (the 3x3 grid icon in the grey bar), which allows you to access some preset google shortcuts.
