Blue Whale Appearance. Unlike the blue whale, the gray whale does not have a dorsal fin. They are about the length of three school buses and the heart alone is the size of a small car. Blue whales weigh close to 200 tons.
Big, giant, massive, immense, enormous whale! The blue whale (scientifically referred to as balaenoptera musculus) is a large marine mammal that is part of the baleen whale (mysticeti) suborder and is the largest animal alive growing to lengths of up to 100 ft.
They prefer the depths of the oceans than the shallow coastal waters.
Due to barnacles and whale lice, the gray whale is patched with lighter white and gray marks. Long and weighing as much as 150 tons or more. They are the size of a jumbo jet, weigh as much as 2000 people, have a heart as large as a small car and blood vessels that a small child could swim through! However, during the winter months, they are known to migrate to the waters of the tropics and the equator.
